For many families considering care, one important question often rises to the surface: “Will Mom still have the chance to practice her faith?” It’s a natural concern, because spirituality—whether expressed through worship, reflection, or community—often anchors us during life’s transitions.

Everyday expressions of faith.

At Vivie, faith isn’t something set aside when someone moves into one of our residences. It continues to be part of everyday life, woven into both community and personal routines. On any given day, you might see neighbors gathering for a worship service in the chapel, a group meeting for Bible study or interfaith discussion, or someone heading out to attend services at a local church. Just as often, there are quieter moments: a person spending time in meditation, lighting a candle in remembrance, or pausing with a chaplain who offers a listening ear and a comforting presence.

Spiritual connection extends beyond the walls of our residences, too. We help residents maintain ties with their own faith communities and clergy whenever possible. And for those receiving hospice care, spiritual support continues with spiritual care providers walking alongside both patients and families, offering comfort and bereavement support well beyond the end of life.

A chaplain’s perspective.

Chaplain Kellan Weyer sees the impact of this care every day:

“Spirituality is at the core of our being: the love that we share with one another, the satisfaction of a life well-lived, the sense of something beyond ourselves. For so many of the residents I work with, spirituality guides them through the process of aging. It allows us to reflect on who we have been, how we came to be where we are today, and our hopes for future generations.”

That kind of reflection often brings a sense of peace. It helps people stay connected—to one another, to traditions that matter to them, and to the meaning they find in their own stories. Families notice this, too. There’s reassurance in knowing that a loved one isn’t just cared for physically but is also supported in the deeper parts of who they are.

Spiritual care at the heart of our mission.

At Vivie, spiritual care isn’t an add-on. It’s part of how we live out our mission to enrich, empower, and elevate people throughout life’s journey. It’s about honoring the whole person, making space for what matters most, and ensuring that no matter where someone is in life, they can remain connected to what gives them purpose.

And that makes all the difference.
