After surgery, illness, or injury, the road ahead can feel overwhelming. Progress might seem just out of reach, and staying on track isn’t always easy. But with the right support, recovery becomes a journey you don’t have to navigate alone.
For David Kjos, healing meant relearning many of the everyday movements that once came naturally. After his leg amputation, his journey began with small steps. He worked closely with Vivie’s short-term rehab care team, finding encouragement and guidance along the way.
“They opened their arms to me, which really gave me confidence.”
During short-term rehab, David worked alongside highly trained physical therapists who took the time to understand his goals and challenges. Open communication was at the heart of his care, ensuring he felt heard and supported every step of the way.
From guidance with walking to exercise routines, each session focused on progress toward the daily activities David cherished. The team helped him recognize the difference between the easy way and the right way, laying a strong foundation for long-term mobility and strength.
As he adjusted to his prosthetic leg, David moved from short-term rehab to home health care, and eventually to outpatient therapy.
“I was recovering in short-term rehab. After that, I graduated to home health care, and eventually outpatient therapy. I really appreciate how much they helped me out.”
Once he was ready, a home safety assessment helped create a personalized rehabilitation plan for David. Before long, he was back to enjoying the activities he loved—all from the comfort of home.
“Home health care was more convenient for me… I didn’t have to go in when it’s cold outside and get dressed up for it.”
Just a month earlier, golfing had seemed impossible. But with his personal goals in mind, his care team made sure he had the flexibility, balance, and confidence to get back on the course.
Recovery is about more than just treatment—it’s about feeling supported, understood, and empowered. Whether through short-term rehab, at-home services, or outpatient therapy, the right care should meet you where you are and help you get to where you want to be.
For David, that support made all the difference.
“It’s all about the people… They challenged you too, which I really appreciated.”
When life takes an unexpected turn, the focus is on getting back to the things you love as quickly and safely as possible. With the right support, confidence grows, and every step forward feels like a victory.
“I have confidence now. I have balance. I can do this, and things are working pretty well now.”
